Melissa Chandon American Summer” July 14 - 26, 2017

reception with the artist - Friday July 21, 5 - 7:30

Melissa Chandon, paints mid-century Americana in bold, simple, and arresting compositions. Classic cars, pristine swimming pools, boats, modern homes and other familiar objects are abstracted from their surroundings in bright-geometric and minimalist renditions. These paintings exude nostalgia for the American landscape and roadside vernacular of the 1960’s and 70's, calling to mind sunny summer days, family road-trips, and simpler times through iconic representations.

Geoffrey GormanStanding Tall”   August 11 - 30, 2017

reception with the artist - Friday August 18, 5 - 7:30

Mixed-media sculptor Geoffrey Gorman’s exhibition, “Standing Tall,” features his uncanny reinvention of found objects into life-like animals standing upright. During his recent travels to Egypt, Gorman was enthralled with the representation of figures with both human and animal attributes. In this series he imbues his creature creations with human expressions, placed in distinctly human postures – a motif found throughout Egyptian hieroglyphics. This work blurs the line between man and animal, and mythical anthropomorphism permeates.

Sandra Pratt  “Abundance” may 26 - june 8, 2017

 reception with the artist  - Friday May 26, 5 - 7:30

Invoking the nostalgic and familiar, Sandra Pratt's paintings are an emotional response to the places she has been. Her harmonious compositions are rooted in an ever present horizon line and often entice the viewer through a strong use of linear perspective; drawing the eye into and through an anonymous village street or to the door of a lone house on the prairie. These scenes are rendered by palette knife in bold, confident shapes of thick de-saturated earthtone colors, with nature and old architecture as inspiration.
