August 13 - August 25, 2010 Nicholas Wilton - Life Fortune We're pleased to announce a show for Nicholas Wilton. The exhibition, titled "Life Fortune," will begin with an opening night reception on Friday evening, August 13th from 5 – 7 pm. Wilton's paintings are complex, abstract with organic shapes, and full of little surprises. His deeply-layered panels host sgraffito words, esoteric symbols, birds, plants, animals, geometric shapes and more. Collectors of Wilton’s work often speak of discovering new details in his paintings as time goes by. Many people are familiar with this artist’s work from bookstores. Images of Wilton’s paintings have been used as cover art for best selling books by author Don Miguel Ruiz. His work has been featured in prominent art magazines, and his designs have illustrated lesser-known tomes as well. Much of Wilton’s work is subtle, which adds to its allure. Each of his panels has a well-worked patina inviting repeated exploration. One can enjoy Wilton’s paintings as pleasant textural abstracts, or dive in deeper and get lost in the layers of colour and meaning.
